How I got My First 10,000 LinkedIn followers

I created my LinkedIn account May 2022.

Running away from the vanity of Instagram, the toxicity of TikTok and the volatility of Twitter.

1 week into observing LinkedIn, I saw its potential. Not just as a social media platform to grow a following but to build a brand long term that brought in:

  • Idea clients (filled with CEOs)

  • The perfect network (like-minded people)

  • A purpose-led following (interested in my nerdy interests)

So I went all in trying to get my first 10,000 followers.

And today, I’m going to show you exactly what I did to get there and how you can get there faster.

And to prove it wasn’t just luck I’ve coached 100s of people to help them grow their following, engagement AND authority and get the same results.

Growth Slay

The 10,000 followers Playbook

I partnered up with one of my go-to LinkedIn tools Taplio to make your journey easier, faster and effective.

Step 1: Optimise your profile (but don’t spend too much time on it)

Set a 30 minute timer, go through the 7 steps in this cheat sheet and move on.

Step 2: Use Taplio to see what’s trending on LinkedIn and save yourself hours of research.

Log onto Taplio and use their search feature.
Then (swipe) the best hooks and ideas and create your own post.

Once you find it, you can use Taplio’s AI assistant to generate a new post for you in seconds.

Step 3: Play around with prompts and styles

Prompt Taplio like you would with ChatGPT.

Use this prompt next time you want to write:

Write a 5 step listicle on how to [insert problem in your niche]

Step 4: Write outstanding content using my template:

Focus on the rule of 1. Solve 1 problem in your post.
1 problem
1 Person
1 Solution

Anything else, save it for your next post.

See how short and concise this post is.

Try to keep it as short as possible so your reader finds it easy to get to their ideal outcome.

Step 5: Engage and network to increase your chances of being seen.

Building a personal brand is all about being known, liked and trusted

Your content does 50% of the job, but your ability to network does the rest.

Everyday, on your calendar add 30 minutes of engagement.
This is a non-negotiable.

List 15 industry peers, 15 top creators in your niche and 15 ideal clients.

Leave 2 lines of valuable comments on their content so they notice you.

On LinkedIn you can only post once a day, but you can comment 100x.
Make it count. You never know who’s watching.

Jasmin got 2 leads from this comment. A comment. On my post!

And if you really don’t have anything “smart” to say, be like me and Charles….

We didn’t get any leads but at least we’re funny.

TLDR;

  1. Optimise your profile (but don’t spend too much time on it)

  2. Use Taplio to see what’s trending on LinkedIn and save yourself hours of research.

  3. Play around with prompts and styles using Taplios AI assistant

  4. Write outstanding content using my templates

  5. Engage and network to increase your chances of being seen

The LinkedIn game is simple, but most people give up when they realise they need to write good content or engage.

I’ve given you all the tools, but it’s on you to execute.

What’s it going to be?

New year same me or new me?

You let me know… but just FYI we don’t like quitters here 😉
