My guide to video content creation
While I’ll always say written content is the best thing you can learn to grow your personal brand, I think it’s time for me to talk about video for a second.
Every day, I get questions on creating video content.
On LinkedIn…
On YouTube…
And even now on Instagram.
I don’t even do Instagram but sure hahah.
So, ladies and gentlemen, I’m going to walk you through exactly how I’ve been able to create viral short-form and long-form video content on multiple platforms.
It all starts with writing.
LinkedIn posts = writing
Short-form video = writing
Newsletter = writing
it all comes back to it.
It is no surprise that writing is the biggest leverage for any aspiring content creator.
My videos wouldn’t be ‘successful’ without a powerful script.
Now how to script a good video?
Just like you write a good LinkedIn post.
1) Ideation.
You need an idea to start and an angle.
The idea is the topic you want to cover.
The angle is the format or style you’re going to take.
For example, yesterday I recorded a video about emails.
The topic was about how I turn emails into money using different email flows.
The angle was educational and information-packed.
So for you, I’d recommend to always start with those 2 so you can get around to scripting it fast.
Ask yourself, what do I want to educate on and how am I going to do it?
Will I be doing a step-by-step or will I be focusing on theory.
Either is fine, but you need to pick 1.
I use tools like Kleo to get ideas based on a single keyword.
For the sake of variety let’s pretend I’m a holistic health coach.
And I want to talk about regulating my nervous system…

I’d use Kleo and search ‘nervous system’ on someone’s profile who’s spoken about the topic before, then I’ll see what worked for them.
Now, based on this Dan Go post I pulled, I see the hook and content he used.
This is validated content as it’s performed well for him.
🔥 This is the key for 99% of content creators. Take validated content, steal it almost and then just add your 1%.
Trust me ‘authenticity’ comes when you build enough confidence in yourself.
Which comes with reps. Especially good reps.
Never not seen an athlete not copy someone else’s routine until they can tailor their own.
Content is the same thing, just don’t copy paste.
2) Scripting
Now my hook would be something like.
Most entrepreneurs are quietly burning out.
But it isn't because they’re tired.
It’s because they can’t regulate their nervous system…
→ The content would then break down 3 ways I’d regulate my nervous system.
The key here is to deliver the information as fast as possible.
So the rest of the script would be something like..
Here are 3 simple ways I regulated my nervous system in 2025.
First, you need to understand that you’re not tired. Your body is on fight or flight mode.
To get it back to base you need to introduce x breathing.
[then i’d show the type of breathing visually]
etc…
See the 2 things I did there?
I opened a mini loop by introducing a small relevant story, “that you’re not tired. Your body is on fight or flight mode.” rather than going straight into the steps.
Why?
Increase watch time and make the audience feel like they’re watching the right video for their needs.
Second, I added a visual hooks. They’re the reason why videos boomed.
Because content without context is often…useless.
And video allows us to have context before the content.

3) Recording
I use a teleprompter because I like being concise.
A lot of people like to riff, but I personally can’t yet with the precision I’d like.
It makes me feel safe too, as I’m still learning how to speak without “ifs” “likes” and “ums” that usually kill videos.
You don’t need to be a pro speaker; just know your weaknesses and fix them.
Stop making excuses, just find hacks and tricks to get to your ideal outcome.
I’ll set up my camera (Sony a7siii) and put my teleprompter on (Elgato) and just hit record.
Then just try until I get it done the way I want to and feel like it should be done.
Sometimes it takes 5 mins, sometimes it takes one hour.
4) Editing
Editing takes hours, so I have an incredible team that has created nearly every single video you see on my page.
I use LinkedIn’s top video agency, Unchained.
Which by the way, when you sign up and mention my name you get access to a call with me on video, specific questions or an audit of your script!
(only available until 1st of June)

Having an editing team is single-handedly the best decision I’ve made for my personal brand.
Having Unchained on retainer has been key.
I also make a significant amount of money from video sponsorships and video content in general from Youtube and even the videos you see on my landing page.
Check out the $100k+ VSL the team created for me.
Personally, I believe that great video content is 50% good scripting, 20% charisma and speaking and 30% editing and setting.
Because without a good edit, the video may just not land well.
Especially if you’re like me and you have a thousand harsh cuts…
Watch this video of my content unedited to see what I mean lol.
So if you’re interested, check out my guys at unchained.
This isn’t sponsored - I think it’s just time for me to give them the recognition they deserve.
I wouldn’t be anywhere near as good without their work!
5) Positioning 🚨
If you want to win with video on LinkedIn, there are 2 things you need to make sure you do well.
No.1 - you need to nail the first 3 seconds of the video hook by either:
1. Having insane editing
2. Having great aesthetic of the video
3. Having a crazy good hook with subtitles
Look no one wants to watch video on Linkedin.
So you have to convince them to by showing them on screen before they even tap ‘watch’.
Quick bonus, you’ll hate me for:
Charisma.
Being charismatic on camera is a necessity.
No one shares boring.
No one rewatches stiff.
But:
You don’t need to be loud.
You don’t need to be fake.
You do need to be alive.
That means:
– Make eye contact with the lens
– Speak like you're already convinced
– Vary your tone and rhythm
– Let your facial expressions move
– Channel your energy (I usually dance before filming)
If you're not charismatic yet, practice.
I practice every single day in front of the mirror.
Because if your message lacks magnetism, your video won’t move anyone.
And that’s a waste of good content.
I see it far too often.
That’s literally it for today ladies and gents.
If you have any questions, shoot them over i’ll do my best to reply.
Love, Lara
PS: On my way back to London now! Great to be hitting the home-turf for a bit before I jet off again for no reason other than I said yes to too many speaking events.
